Notes: The Ariga manga is generally darker and more serious than the games, but it also has some very silly moments in it. More importantly though, Ariga Robot Masters are said to have “souls,” (as in, they have, more or less, full free will and emotions), but are still restrained by the three laws of robotics. Even then, they're quite capable of disobeying those laws to some degree (Roll at one point rejects a direct order from Wily for example). I'm going to try to manage this better than I did in UG@. Rock's probably not going to go on that many missions with human adversaries, but when he does it'll only be if he can disable mook mechs instead of destroying them. (It's actually kind of important for a lot of reasons that he avoids killing any human characters, considering certain events later in his canon and his own attitude towards that even without the laws in place).

Also, it's implied that most robot masters are capable of controlling lesser robots, and that there's a headcanon that I like to use that the whole reason why they're called Robot Masters is because they were meant to command, manage and maintain smaller robots of lesser AI to help them in their work and this is why RM stages have mook robots who attack the player.

Finally, for clarification, I refer to the groups of Robot Masters that appear in the same game together in the same way they're referred to within the manga itself. Dr. Light's set of Robot Masters from MM1 are called the Light Numbers, Dr. Cossack's from MM4 are called the Cossack Numbers and Wily's are collectively called the Wily Numbers, but have sub-groups named by their game number, such as the MM2 group being called the Second Numbers, MM3's being the Third Numbers, etc.

Background:
Once, there was a young scientist who believed that, as robots got more advanced, it was important to give them the ability to have thoughts, feelings and morals of their own, so that humans couldn't abuse the robots' power and robots could be partners to humans rather than just slaves or tools. Most people thought he had his head in the clouds and refused to listen to these ideas, but then one day while still in collage, Dr. Thomas Light befriended a fellow roboticist named Dr. Albert Wily, who shared his belief. Together, the two of them created the Robot Master AI, and the prototype robot Blues, also designated Protoman. It's not entirely clear what happened after that, but while Dr. Light became a highly respected scientist in the field of robotics, his partner Wily eventually fell off the map entirely.

Dr. Light continued his research, creating two new robots to be domestic helper units, a lab assistant named Rock and a housekeeper unit named Roll. With Rock's aid, he also created six industrial type robot masters; Cutman, Gutsman, Iceman, Bombman, Fireman and Elecman. These robot masters were then sent to work the factories and facilities they were designed for and for a while things were peaceful, until one day the six industrial robot masters went berserk and started wrecking the facilities they worked in. Based on feedback data he got from Cutman, Dr. Light realized that someone had somehow managed to get to them and reprogram them all through some sort of microchip that hadn't been there before.

When it became clear the military wasn't going to be able to stop them on their own, Rock immediately started to rush off to save his younger brothers. Dr. Light tried to stop him, pointing out that he was just a helper robot and had no combat capabilities, but Rock just countered by asking him to give him combat upgrades. Reluctantly at first, Dr. Light agreed to this request and this was how Megaman was born.

Personality: Rock's three defining and most important characteristics are his courage, his determination and his sense of justice. While he is pacifistic like his creator, the very first thing he does after discovering that his brothers had gone rogue and that the military couldn't stop them was to rush out there to do something about it, and when Dr. Light pointed out that he was just a domestic robot, to demand that Dr. Light modify him for combat. This is also at least partly born of his protectiveness of his family, as while accepting he'd have to fight them in order to do so, he'd also gone out there to save the Light Numbers from Wily's reprograming. Even so, his protectiveness of his family can occasionally get him into trouble too. When the Light Numbers were going to be destroyed for their participation in Dr. Wily's scheme despite the fact that they were reprogrammed, Rock immediately rushed out to save them even though he would've broken the law and gotten himself and everyone else in trouble if he hadn't been intercepted by the Second Numbers. Even when it's not his family though, he's always willing to put his life on the line to protect others, even Wily if need be.

He also took to combat pretty well, even if he was sad to have to fight his brothers. He is quick to learn and adapt to new situations and while he starts out as a bit naive and trusting, he also quickly out grows that as the story continues, without ever really losing his faith in the inherent goodness of people in general and his fellow robot masters. In fact, he comes to understand that the robot masters that loyally serve Wily aren't really bad people in themselves, and just serve Wily because he's their creator and they believe in Wily's goal to make the world a better place for them, a view Rock himself can't share since he can't agree with Wily's methods of achieving that goal. This and his kind nature means even most of the Wily Numbers don't really hate him (Except Bass, kinda, but he can't entirely help it considering what he was built for).

Of all these things, his determination is what's carried him through his trials the most. No matter how bad the odds seemed, he never gave up and never stopped fighting, even when Terra almost killed him in the Stardroids arc.  It's this that carried him through the hardest battles in the series, even when allowing him to win when he fought a monster that was said to be able to destroy whole worlds on it's own (He basically fought Sunstar solo in the canon finale).

Capabilities and Resources: As Dr. Light's lab assistant, Rock knows enough about the building, repair and maintenance of machines to help out with mech repairs if need be.
Position in Unity Group: Light Labs initially will affiliate itself with Unity Group to help with robot and tech related issues, with Rock sometimes pitching in as a mechanic. Rock will end up joining Unity group as a combatant after the first mission of his canon.

Mega Man is a about the size of a preteen boy, possibly looking a little older than that, (I picture Ariga Rock as being about 12-14 physically rather than 10 like Game Rock), in blue spandex with darker blue gauntlets, boots and “superhero underwear.” He's also got a blue metal collar around his neck and a dark blue helmet with a square protruding out of the front, a rectangle ridge extending out from behind it over the top to the back of the helmet and two round earpieces.
Rock weapons include his standard Mega-buster, which is what the name Mega Man is derived from, and the ability to copy other Robot Masters' weapons with the Copy Chip. He is also faster, stronger and more durable than a human.

Upgrades:
Super Adaptor: Rock combines with Rush to form a new unit capable of flight and using a rocket punch attack, with stronger armor than he has as plain Megaman.

Wingmen: When Asteroid Blues rolls around, Dr. Light will build Rush to act as a companion and support unit for Rock. Rush is basically a walking swiss army knife, possessing a number of capabilities, such as the ability to transform into a hover board to allow Rock to fly, and later on he's upgraded to be able to become a number of other vehicles such as a motor bike, and a submarine.

Before that, Rock can sometimes be supported by his brothers, the Light Numbers, though most of them are usually busy with their jobs as industrial robots, so they won't show up much outside of the missions based on Rock's canon. Roll will also help her brother in a non-combat capacity. Other than that, there's also Beat, though he doesn't get him until after fighting Dr. Cossack (which canonically happens off screen in Megamix). However, the Light Numbers won't be immediately available for Rock until the second mission of his canon.

DLN-003 Cutman: An industrial robot master designed for wood harvesting. His main weapon is Rolling Cutter. He has high mobility, and his armor is designed for all kinds of weather since he's meant for primarily working outdoors, but he can't withstand a heavy physical blow very well (in reference to his weakness to Gutsman's weapon). Of the industrial Light Numbers, his model is closest in compatibility to Rock's own and some of their vital parts are interchangeable. For this reason, he's the only other robot master besides Megaman himself who can combine with Rush and use the Super Adapter. Cutman is the most hot-headed and least sensible of Rock's brothers, but he's got a good heart.

DLN-004 Gutsman: Gutsman is physically the strongest Light Number, built for construction and land development. His strength is his main weapon, manifesting as the Super Arm power when Rock copies it. While strong and durable, he wasn't really intended to work in particularly dangerous conditions, so his armor is vulnerable to explosives (such as Bombman's Hyper Bombs). Despite how large and intimidating he might seem, Gutsman has a kind and gentle character.

DLN-005 Iceman: Iceman was created to be an Antarctic Exploration unit, but after he finished his scouting mission he was put to work in a cold storage warehouse. Because of this, Iceman was designed to be able function in subzero temperatures, while functioning on the least amount of energy possible, using the smallest parts available, which is why he's the smallest Light Number. This gives his body hyper-conductivity though, making him vulnerable to high voltage electrical shocks. His weapon is the Ice Slasher, which he can use more easily and efficiently than Mega Man can. He a bit timid at times, but he's surprisingly effective in battle despite his small size.

DLN-006 Bombman: A demolition robot, he also works in land development like Gutsman, so the two sometimes work together. The blast of his Hyper Bomb ability has an adjustable range, thanks to series of micro bombs that are used to control the blast in order to avoid unnecessary damage. He's a simple guy who likes flashy things like fire works.

DLN-007 Fireman: He works at a waste management facility, overseeing the smaller worker bots and performing most of the waste management duties himself. His Fire Storm ability burns at 7000 to 8000 degrees celsius and is capable of burning through just about anything. He's actually a fairly calm, quiet guy, contrary to what you'd expect. His official profile describes him as more of a quietly burning flame than a raging inferno.

DLN-008 Elecman: Created to help regulate the flow of power in a nuclear power plant, Elecman was given more advanced problem solving and decision making abilities than most of the others, as well as faster reflexes, to help deal with the dangers of his job. He has a high power electric generator inside his body which he uses to power his Thunder Beam attack by gathering the electricity into his fingers. He tries to act like the most serious and mature member of the group, despite being the youngest, but when he has a chance to get away from work for a while, he sometimes finds it hard not to try to cut loose a bit. He also developed a taste for combat after fighting Mega Man during his time being controlled by Wily.

Suggested Event List:

Event 1: The Robot Masters Go Berserk

After Rock makes his introduction, and just before the mission, Unity Group will receive a message telling them that the six industrial robots that Dr. Light created have suddenly gone rogue and are causing destruction. The ordinary military forces are finding it impossible to deal with them despite the fact that they're robots built for industrial purposes and Unity Group is being requested to stop them.

Dr. Light quickly realizes based on data he gets back from Cutman that someone has installed a chip of some kind into the Light Numbers that's altered their programing. Rock, not wanting to just stand by while his brothers are in trouble, attempts to run off and join the Unity Group as they head to where the Robot Masters have all gathered. Dr. Light points out that Rock can't help because he's just a domestic helper robot, so Rock requests that Dr. Light give him combat upgrades.

Mission 1: The Birth of Megaman

The reprogrammed Light Numbers have all gathered together in the nuclear power plant that Elecman helps run and have completely taken over the facility. Not only are all of them together, they also have taken control of the smaller worker robots inside the plant. Megaman arrives shortly after the rest of the Unity Group soldiers that participate in the mission do.

After Elecman goes down, he reveals that since he's the robot in charge of regulating the power for this power plant, the nuclear generator is probably now going to go out of control and explode and that Megaman and the Unity Group should probably leave before that happens. Of course since the explosion would likely kill any human workers still trapped inside, as well as any people living nearby (not to mention the fallout since it's a nuclear plant and all), neither Megaman nor presumably anyone else there wants that so Rock tries to get Elecman to tell them how to stop the explosion. Elecman, somewhat hesitantly, tells them the location of the control room.

However, in order to get there, they have to take out the Robot Masters that are still standing, as they will try to get in the way. Once they do get there, they discover a Yellow Devil waiting for them, as well as the mastermind behind the incident; Dr. Wily.

Boss:

Wily is impressed with Megaman and offers to let Megaman join him, but of course Rock refuses, at which point Wily orders the Yellow Devil to destroy him and the Unity Group members present. Once the Yellow Devil is defeated, eight new robots, all wearing cloaks to disguise their appearances, appear seemingly out of nowhere to stop the heroes from apprehending Wily and make their escape with him (Quickman also damages Rock in a scripted event when Megaman tries to stop them). After that, Dr. Light arrives in person to tell them that they don't need to worry about the generator anymore, as he's repaired the Light Numbers and removed Wily's evil chips, so Elecman and the rest have banded together to fix the generator and stop the explosion.

Event/Situation Log: The WRU's Destruction Order

Just before the mission, it's revealed that the Light Numbers have been confiscated by the World Robot Union and are going to be decommissioned and destroyed for the part they played in the last mission, even though they didn't go rogue under their own power and were only reprogrammed. Dr. Light can't do anything to stop this without getting into legal trouble, but Rock refuses to accept this and runs off to save his brothers again.

Mission 2: R Destruction Order

On his way to the robot disposal plant the Light Numbers are being held at, Rock is attacked by Airman and Flashman (and a group of mook robots). Unity Group is dispatched to help when news of the attack comes back to them.

Meanwhile, in a cutscene, Woodman and his own animal themed robot minions attack the disposal plant and free the Light Numbers. He offers them the chance to join Dr. Wily, revealing that Wily intends to make a world where robots rule over humans and reminds them how the humans were just going to destroy them for something that was beyond their control and that Dr. Light “abandoned” them to this fate. Cutman is ready to refuse, but Elecman actually seems interested in this offer, to his surprise.

Back at the fight with Airman and Flashman, thing don't seem to be going to well, until Megaman and Unity Group receive reinforcements from Gutsman, Cutman, Bombman and Fireman, who pretended to accept Woodman's offer so they could get out of the disposal plant to help Rock (and so Iceman and Elecman could follow Woodman to Wily's hideout). That's when Crashman, Metalman and Heatman show up.

Wily then takes over the airwaves to reveal his evil plans, which involve launching a group of Skull Satellites into space which are equipped with powerful lasers that could destroy the whole world. Once he launches them, he intends to make the ESUN surrender to him (of course this plan doesn't sound as solid as it might've been otherwise in a world like SRWU admittedly).

Dr. Light and Roll arrive and give Rock the Item-2 hoverboard, then he and those pilots in the group who can fly race off following Elecman and Iceman's signals to locate Wily's Skull Fortress so they can stop him. Heatman chases after them, boosting his power by eating Crash Bombs Crashman gave him. When they get over the water (since the Skull Fortress is on an Island), Heatman is joined by Bubbleman.

Meanwhile, Elecman takes out Woodman and confronts Wily, only to get taken out by Quickman and Wily starts launching the satellites. He only launches about 8 of the 13 satellites he has before Iceman shows up and freezes the control panel though. Then Elecman gets back up and restrains Wily to keep him from escaping. Quickman isn't there to help this time because he's gone out to confront Megaman and the other Unity Group members as they arrive to destroy the satellites that have launched, riding on the Mecha Dragon.

Enemies: Quickman, Mecha Dragon, Skull Satellites x8

Seven of the Satellites are taken out, but the last one gets away from the others, causing Megaman to have to chase after it. He lands on top of the Satellite to find not only Quickman, but also Flashman (who went back to the Skull Fortress for repairs) waiting for him (of course anyone can still follow Rock to help). Once both are taken out, the last satellite is destroyed and Rock gets clear before it explodes by using Flashman's Time Stopper (though depending on circumstances that might not be necessary).

In the aftermath of the mission, the Light Numbers are all pardoned and allowed to return to their work due to helping Unity Group stop Wily.

Mission 3: Asteroid Blues

Note: This chapter was originally from the first volume of Gigamix, but chronologically it's the adaptation of MM3 so it's going here.

This mission takes place in space. Wily has gone to jail, but then an asteroid containing ruins of an ancient alien civilization and a cache of mysterious power crystals are discovered. The ruins and the crystals are being guarded by a platoon of ancient robots however and the scout team sent to investigate the asteroid were almost completely destroyed with only one of them managing to get away, taking a single crystal back with them. Interested in finding out more, the ESUN decides to send a Unity Group task force along with both Dr. Light and Dr. Wily (under heavy guard), to investigate the Asteroid and try to bring more of the power crystals back. On the way there, Light and Wily collaborate on building a giant robot called Gamma to help in the expedition.

Dr. Light also made a robot dog called Rush for Megaman to keep him company. Also, as a peace offering, Wily makes Rock a robot bird called Reggae. Gamma has been completed as the group arrives at the asteroid and Wily's robot guards escort him back to his room. As they're making their way down hall however, Shadowman appears and takes the guards out, freeing Wily.

Megaman, Dr. Light, and the Unity Group task force (who are spread out through the ship) are attacked by the rest of the Third Numbers and a mysterious Red Robot in a Yellow Scarf. It's completely unknown how they even got here, as Wily was being carefully monitored and didn't have an opportunity to build a new set of robot masters. When Dr. Light tries to locate Wily, he discovers, to his confusion, that Wily is nowhere to be found on the ship. Also, the main engines go out of control, sending the ship that the group is on a collision course with the asteroid.

Protoman shoots and destroys Reggae at one point during the battle, and then Shadowman appears and demands to know if Protoman is betraying them. Protoman reveals that Reggae was a spy-bot and expresses distaste at such tactics. Shadowman attacks Protoman, angry at his disobedience and reminds Protoman that he owes Wily his life. Protoman easily brushes the attack off and says he couldn't care less before challenging Megaman to a fight.

During the fight, Megaman manages to score a point blank buster shot to the face and shatters Protoman's lower face mask. Dr. Light then opens the feed of the nearby video comm to tell Megaman that he and the others need to abandon ship, since he can't figure out how to get the engines under control. He tells Megaman that Rush has a Jet mode that Rock can use in order to fly out of the ship. Then Protoman makes a scathing comment about how Dr. Light hasn't changed at all and Light reacts in shock and recognition when he recognizes him.

Then an alarm goes off, indicating that they're getting closer to the asteroid and won't have much time left before they'll crash. Protoman tells Megaman that he needs to get out of here. Rock does, after hesitating for a bit, then uses Rush to leave the ship and and try to stop it from crashing. Anyone else with a spaceworthy mecha should come out and join the effort of course. Protoman joins as well, using a suped-up charge shot aimed at the asteroid to help change their trajectory enough so that they crash land on the asteroid. Everyone gets out, either in mechs or in a space suit in Dr. Light's case and are immediately attacked by the defenses that the first scouting team encountered. Megaman moves to protect Dr. Light while others can try to take out the laser canons firing on them.

Then Gamma emerges from the ship. Dr. Light is shocked, since Gamma shouldn't be able to move yet, but apparently Sparkman is responsible, having charged it's power core with his own energy. Dr. Wily appears, clad in a space suit of his own with Shadowman at his side, standing on top of Gamma. He then reveals, when Dr. Light asks how he managed to hide this whole time, that the back up power battery for Gamma that Light let him create was actually a disguised teleporter. He'd been using it the entire time to go back to earth when no one was looking to build the third numbers in his hideout. He declares his intention to use Gamma to take the power crystals for himself. Then he orders Gamma to take out the rest of the security measures and retrieve the crystals. As Gamma starts to follow these orders, Wily and the Third Numbers use the teleporter to escape.

Megaman decides to go after Gamma, though Dr. Light protests his going, and of course I'm sure the rest of Unity Group are on board with this idea. So Dr. Light tells them that the armor in his mid-section is the weakest point. Dr. Light put in this weakness on purpose because he couldn't bring himself to completely trust Wily. As they go off to do battle, Dr. Light goes to repair the ship so they can get home afterward.

Boss: Gamma

During the fight, Protoman once again intervenes to help our heroes. And ultimately Gamma is defeated. After the fight, Protoman refuses to answer anyone's questions about his actions, just saying they should go back to the ship since it should be repaired by now. Then he vanishes.

Mission 4: Metal Heart

Unity Group is called in to deal with a Yellow Devil that is making it's way through the City and terrorizing civilians for no known reason. When they arrive, Wily's Third Numbers are attacking the Yellow Devil themselves and not doing very well against it. After it escapes underground, the Thirds tell Unity Group that Wily ordered them to fight it, but won't reveal exactly why or what's really going on. Wily also shows up at Light Labs and won't say a whole lot about why, but seems pretty frustrated and irritable. Despite how suspicious the circumstances are, Megaman still decides to call a truce with the Third Numbers since they have similar goals.

Eventually, they track the Yellow Devil down to the building containing the Mother Computer that controls that area of the city. For some reason, it seems really determined to make it's way to the room the Mother Computer is located in and people become worried that it's going to destroy the Mother Computer, so Unity Group and the Third Numbers attempt to stop it. The security robots protecting the Mother computer attack our heroes instead of the Yellow Devil however. Dr. Light also notices that the feed to the mother computer has it repeating the word "Son" over and over again, but he thinks it might be a glitch in it's SoS message at first.

Enemies: Robot Mooks of Various types, Yellow Devil MKII

At one point during the chase, Rock is knocked out of window when they're on a high floor and Shadowman uses his shadow travel power to catch him, with the help of a couple of the other Thirds shining a spotlight on Rock to give him a shadow to pass through. Once Rock and Shadowman are back with everyone else, they chase the Yellow Devil into the control room. Still not sure why it's so determined to reach the Mother Computer, Roll does a search and discovers that, since the Mother Computer's job is so important, they used an AI that already had experience with administrative duties to serve as the Mother Computer. Previously, the AI controlling the Mother Computer had been in control of a Toy Manufacturing Plant. Wily then admits that he was the one who built the Yellow Devil (though this much was already obvious) and that he'd used the computer brain of a discarded toy robot he found to control it. From this they realize that the Mother Computer's AI is technically the Yellow Devil's "mother" and Roll calls for Unity Group not to destroy it since the Mother Computer isn't really in danger. Confirming suspicions, the Yellow Devil stops and speaks for the first time, calling the Mother Computer "Mama."

Unfortunately, Shadowman is still determined to follow his original orders from Wily (which were to retrieve the Yellow Devil and if that fails, to destroy it) and attack's the Yellow Devil's weak point. The resulting explosion destroys the Yellow Devil and knocks the Mother Computer offline.

Megaman discovers that the core containing the Yellow Devil's AI is still intact though, and, finding a disconnected power cable, plugs it in to his own power source so that the toy robot can meet his mother after all. This of course, results in Rock falling offline himself due to having his own power drained, though before he loses consciousness he notices that the beeping of the mother computer sounds like a lullaby of some kind. Dr. Wily and the Thirds manage to escape in the confusion.

Post Mission, the Mother Computer is replaced with a new one and the old Mother Computer, along with the toy robot, are rebuilt into part of a monitoring system for a park in the city.

Event: Warrior's Day Off

Rock, Roll, The Light Numbers and anyone who wants to go with them go on a trip to the amusement park in Rock's home city. When they arrive, they discover that the Fifth Numbers are all working part time jobs at the park to fund Wily's schemes. Cutman is bothered by their presence at first, but when the owner of the park reveals what's going on, they decide to relax and enjoy their day at the park. At some point, Bass attack's Rock and forces him to change to Megaman in order to fight him. While the fight goes on, the Fifth Numbers intervene to protect the human civilians and eventually get involved in the fight themselves when Bass demands to know why they're seemingly siding with the Light Numbers. Posing dramatically and declaring themselves the "Hourly-Pay Squad: Part-Timers", and their intention to protect the park and their customers, The Fifth Numbers successfully pull off a coordinated attack on Bass that it turns out they'd tried to use on Megaman earlier far less successfully. Then Protoman makes a brief appearance and drives Bass off.

Mission 5: The Greatest Enemy in History

The World Robot Union has been disbanded and replaced with the World Robot Alliance, lead by their chairman, a man named Mr. X. In an effort to create powerful robots like Megaman that can defend other regions of the world, a contest was held where the winning designs would face off in the First Annual World Robot Tournament to see who was strongest. However, before the tournament can officially begin, the eight finalists are hijacked by Mr. X, who declares that he created the WRA as a ruse in order to get his hands on the strongest Robot Masters in the world so that he could use them to take over.

Megaman and Unity Group are dispatched to stop him. At one point early on, Megaman is separated from the rest of the strike force, but comes back just in time to join them as they engage the WRT Finalists (Aka the Sixth Numbers).

Boss: Mr.X's Warmachine

At the end of the battle, Mr. X reveals himself to be Dr. Wily (to no one's surprise) and grovels at Megaman's feet, asking for forgiveness. Megaman thrusts his buster in Wily's face and demands to know many more times he's going to pull these stunts. He seems unusually angry and menacing all of a sudden. After Wily grovels a bit, Megaman turns and starts to leave, only for Wily to bring out another death machine, which Megaman takes out with one buster shot. Megaman turns the buster on Wily again, and even as Wily begins to panic and denies that Megaman would actually do it, shoots him point blank in the head. Wily is subsequently revealed to be a robotic decoy and the real one gets away, shocked at the fact that Megaman actually pulled the trigger.

Meanwhile, Megaman teleports away before anyone else in Unity Group can stop him.

Situation Log: "Megaman" Goes Rogue

After the mission ends, a news report reveals that Megaman is wreaking havoc in Shinjuku. On Live Television, "Megaman" declares that he's now realized that humanity is corrupt and that killing the humans is the only way to bring peace to the world.

Ring Man, who in this canon is a police officer who specializes in robot related crime, arrests Dr. Light, Roll and the Light Numbers on suspicion and Unity Group is asked to hunt Megaman down.

Event/Combat: Megaman Vs. Copy Megaman

Roll and the Light Numbers however, escape captivity, with Ring Man secretly helping them. Rock's siblings are utterly certain that the Megaman they saw on the news is not the real Rock and they resolve to find out the truth. The end up finding "Megaman" either before or around the same time Unity Group does.

At first they try to talk to him, but it becomes obvious pretty quickly that he won't listen to them, but he does say he doesn't actually want to destroy his siblings and Unity Group, but implies that he will if they get in his way. The way he says all this is enough to provoke the Light Numbers into attacking him, but he takes them all out, aiming to disable rather than destroy and becomes upset about their "turning" on him.

Cutman gets back to his feet and declares that there's no way this is the real Megaman, because the real Megaman wouldn't be talking or acting this way. Sure enough, a second Megaman appears, declaring that he's the real one. The first Megaman, however, claims that the second one is just a copy robot he'd fought earlier and is surprised to see him still alive. The second Megaman insists that that the first one is the copy though. The other Light Numbers are understandably confused, but Cutman insists that the new arrival is definitely the real Megaman and they quickly agree with him.

Before anyone can join in on the battle that's obviously brewing however, Protoman arrives and knocks the Light Numbers back, landing between them, Unity Group and the two Megamen, telling them to stay back and let Megaman handle it on his own.

After the original and the copy argue some more about whether humanity really deserves a chance or not, the battle begins, and it becomes fairly obvious pretty quickly that the Copy has the upper hand, due to being more powerful that the original and possessing the weapons he copied from the Sixth Numbers.

Dr. Cossack and Kalinka arrive in a hover vehicle with the Cossack Numbers and the Sixths, and again it seems like the new arrivals want to join in and help the real Megaman, but Protoman grabs Kalinka and takes her hostage to ensure that they continue to not interfere.

Eventually as the fight continues, Copy begins to wear down. Even though Megaman hasn't actually landed that many hits on him, his armor is becoming more dented and steam is beginning to escape from him. Cossack theorizes that the machine that created the copy must have cranked his power output past the safe limits that Dr. Light set for Megaman to protect him from overloading and that Copy's body can't take the pressure. Copy insists that he can't be the copy, but then the front panel of his neckbrace falls off and reveals Dr. Wily's logo. When Cutman notices this and points it out, Copy immediately stops fighting and backs away from everyone, still in denial, until he bumps into Cossack's hover vehicle and, upon turning around, sees the logo in his reflection in the front window.

Snapping at the undeniable proof of his being the fake, Copy breaks the window and starts to laugh brokenly (and a bit insanely) about what a twisted joke this all is. This gets worse when Copy turns to Protoman for further confirmation and Protoman coldly gives it. Rock tries to give him sympathy, but while Copy does thank him for his kindness, he quickly gets angry and decides that he'll become the real Megaman by killing him. He stands up and aims a fully charged buster shot at Rock from close range.

Roll slips past Protoman and jumps in the way of Copy's buster shot before anyone can stop her, taking a severe amount of damage, due her lack of armor, the close range of the shot and Copy's cranked up power levels. Both Rocks are horrified. Roll is taken off the battlefield by Dr. Cossack and Kalinka for emergency care, but before they can do this, Roll tells Rock not to hate the copy. He can't help that he was created under unfortunate circumstances, and she believes he's a good person at heart, since he's a robot master like they are.

Despite Roll's words, Cutman can't forgive Copy and tries to attack him. Before the attack can land however, Shadowman emerges from Copy's shadow and parries it, before picking up Copy and fleeing with him before anyone else can react.

While Roll is sent back to Unity Group's base for more extensive care, the group runs into trouble with the authorities, who refuse to believe them when they insist that the Megaman that attacked Shinjuku earlier was a fake and that the real Megaman is innocent. Then they receive a report that Megaman is attacking Shinjuku again, while the real Megaman is standing right there with them.

When everyone arrives in the ruins of Shinjuku, Copy is fighting with Bass and there are news reporters with cameras watching the spectacle. Since Copy is too badly damaged to put up much of a fight, Bass is about to finish him off when the real Megaman interrupts. Copy temporarily takes Bass out with a charged shot while Bass is distracted by Megaman's arrival, allowing Rock and Dr. Cossack to come closer and inspect the damage. Unfortunately, it's too late to do anything for Copy at this point, Cossack announces that his systems are too overloaded and that he's going to explode any minute. Rock accuses Copy of causing this commotion to clear his and Dr. Light's name, which Copy denies, but Rock is pretty certain that's what this is, as Copy didn't have anything to gain from causing more destruction in an area that's already in ruins and it's what Rock himself would've done. Bass gets back up, still spoiling for a fight, and Copy launches himself away from Rock and Dr. Cossack, managing to carry both himself and Bass far enough away from everyone else that no damage is caused to anyone but Bass when he finally explodes.

Arc Start

Situation: The Attack on Wily City
An alert comes up about an asteroid with an odd energy signature having landed on an Island that no one had known existed until that moment. This is the arrival of giant white robot at Wily's secret base, Wily City. The White Giant attacks the base, destroying all Wily Numbers who get in his way, all the while declaring that he is here to destroy evil and is obviously hell bent on killing Wily. Shadowman manages to get Wily safely off the Island with help from Shademan who acts as a decoy to buy them more time, via escaping in the Hogale with a robot decoy Wily on board. During all this, Quickman lands a blow on the back of the White Giant's neck that actually manages to leave a dent when no one else's attacks managed even that much. Both the Energy signature and the explosion of Wily City will have been recorded by Light Labs and Unity Group's sensors. They quickly identify the location as Wily's base, but nothing else about what happened is clear. Rock will be acting strangely agitated and nervous without really knowing why. Only that he has a feeling that something really bad is about to happen.

Event: Shadowman asks for help
Receiving a mysterious distress signal, Megaman, Roll, Dr. Light and the Light Numbers, along with anyone else who wants to tag along, go to the edge of the ocean near town to find one of Wily's Water mechs, the Gamerizer. The hatch opens and Shadowman steps out, badly damaged and carrying an unconscious and wounded Wily. He asks Dr. Light for help getting Wily medical attention. A few Light Numbers express doubt, worried that this might be a trap (anyone else can chime in to agree with that if they want), but Rock and, surprisingly, Cutman both speak up in Shadowman's defense, with Cutman saying they should at least hear him out.

Shadowman sets Wily down, tosses his still sheathed sword out in front of him, falls to his knees and prostrates himself before Rock and Dr. Light, telling them about the White Giant that destroyed Wily City and the other robot masters and begging them for their help, since while he knows they're mortal enemies, he can't trust anyone else with Wily's safety. Ultimately, Rock and Dr. Light agree to help and take Shadowman and Dr. Wily back with them to Light Labs.

Mission 6: White Nightmare

The White Giant attacks Light Labs, still looking for Wily and Rock, the Light Numbers and select members of Unity Group move to intercept him. The White Giant identifies Megaman and Unity Group as defenders of this planet and ask them why they're getting in his way. All he wants to do is destroy the evil. The Light Numbers and Unity give their responses, but in response to the Light Numbers' weak defense of Wily, he dismissively says he should've known they'd want to defend Wily, because once someone has been tainted by evil, they are forever evil. Megaman demands to know why he's so uncompromising, but the WG doesn't seem to understand this. He declares that Megaman and the Unity Group must be corrupted by evil to want to defend Wily and that he will destroy them too. He is the ultimate source of justice in the universe and anyone who opposes him is evil.

Boss: White Giant

No one is able to to actually land a hit that does damage to the White Giant until Rock manages to hit the dint in the back of it's neck that Quickman left when he fought him. At that point, it's seemingly indestructible armor is weakened even further and it becomes vulnerable to everyone else's attacks. Upon his defeat, The White Giant begins to say something about how if he is destroyed "they" will escape. Something, or rather, eight somethings burst out of the White Giant's body.

The beings that emerge from inside the White Giant call themselves the Stardroids. Terra, their leader, boasts that they are bringers of the end and destroyers of worlds and that in gratitude for releasing them from their eternal imprisonment, they will grant earth the honor of being the next planet they destroy. Terra launches an attack on Tokyo. Megaman, Cutman and Elecman (plus anyone else who wants to come along) try to launch an attack of their own, but are knocked aside and get separated from everyone else in the chaos. Stardroids then vanish before anyone else can react.

Situation: The Stardroids Attack
The Stardroids split up and attack all corners of the earth. Anyone who tries to stop them gets curbstomped (bring out your redshirt armies for this one). In particular the Sixth Numbers try to fight them to defend their home regions, but fall one by one, though they do at least buy their people time to be evacuated to safety. Several thousand robot masters from all over the world gather together to attack Terra, but he effortlessly destroys them all in under 30 minutes. All of these things are relayed to Unity Group and their allies through various newsfeeds and other means. Terra's fight in particular was projected into the sky in a way that allowed everyone on earth at once to see it. Notably, despite saying that they plan to destroy the world, none of the damage they've done so far could considered anywhere near world destroying, but they are causing quite a bit of terror and pain.

Event: Regrouping

Light Labs has been destroyed, but Dr. Light and Dr. Wily are fine thanks to quick thinking on Roll's part (Shadowman beats himself up a bit about not moving as quickly to protect everyone as she did). Everyone regroups at the Unity Group's base. The Light Numbers that remain want to be repaired so that they can help fight the Stardroids, but Dr. Light is reluctant to do it, not wanting his creations to put themselves in more danger, especially against an enemy that would likely permanently destroy them. Then Wily says he'll repair them if Light won't. Dr. Light gets angry and yells at Wily, accusing him of seeing robots only as tools, but Wily counters that Light is the one who's being selfish. He just doesn't want the Light Numbers to fight to spare his own feelings, but the reason why they gave Robot Masters "souls" in the first place was to give them the ability to choose how they'd live... and how they'd die. Dr. Light realizes he's right.

Meanwhile with Rock and party...

Rock and those who got knocked away by Terra last mission wake up and find themselves in the sewers, having been rescued by The Hourly-Pay Squad: Part Timers the Fifth Numbers. They update the group about the situation with the Stardroids and help patch them up a little bit, though they can't do much here obviously.

Mission 7: Dark Moon

The base is attacked by Venus and Jupiter. Meanwhile, Mercury and Uranus find Rock's group just as they're talking about getting out of the sewers to regroup with everyone else.

In the sewers, the Fifth Numbers will step up to fight as well. Starman will wrap up the injured heroes inside of his Star Crash shield, and they'll get knocked into a cart connected to Chargeman who will attempt to flee with them, explaining that he knows that his brothers don't stand a chance against the Stardroids, but He and the Fifths believe that Megaman is the one who stands the best chance at defeating them and so they to get back to Dr. Light and the others and get fixed up as soon as possible so they can a better chance.

Unfortunately, after he says this, Saturn uses his Black Hole ability to teleport them right back where they started, where The rest of the Fifths have already been defeated, and the Star Crash shield breaks. So they'll have to fight anyway.

Enemy Group 2 (New Edition):
Saturn

Meanwhile, those back at the base go out to engage Venus and Jupiter. Half-way through the fight a new robot appears and finishes off Venus. When asked who he is, the new Robot answers that his name is Duo.

Kalinka arrives at the base with him. (Note: Megamix and Gigamix in canon takes place over several years and by the time the Stardroids arc begins, Kalinka is a teenager, but I doubt that much time will have passed in game by the time this arc comes up in SRWU)

Back with the fight with Mercury, Uranus and Saturn, the fight may not be going too well considering everyone's still injured/damaged from the last battle, but then the Cossack Numbers arrive as reinforcements, though they are way more powerful than normal and their eyes are glowing white.

They finish off Uranus, and force Mercury and Saturn to retreat, but then they briefly turn on the heroes, obviously having gone berserk. This doesn't last long before mysterious crystals pop out of compartments on their bodies and they all collapse. Dr. Cossack then catches up with them.

Meanwhile, Terra has decided that they've caused enough chaos and it's time to take the next step in their plans. He summons Dark Moon. When Dark Moon appears in the sky, it can somehow be seen by everyone on earth no matter where they are. Terra explains, in a voice that can be heard inside everyone's heads, that Dark Moon is the harbringer of this planet's end and in [Canonically 24 hours, but probably longer than that depending on how time flow is handled in this game. It's up to the mods] Dark Moon will destroy the world.

Event: The Death of Megaman

So everyone is now gathered back at the base. Cossack claims to be the one who built Duo, but Wily doesn't believe him, because he doesn't think he's good enough to build a robot that powerful.

Also, it's revealed at this point that the Wily Numbers are all still alive if still badly damaged (Though Shademan and Quickman are both still missing), because Shademan loaded them all into the Gamerizer without telling Shadowman. Everyone who needs repairing and patching up gets it.

Just as repairs are done and everyone is talking about what to do about the Stardroids and Dark Moon, Terra appears behind Megaman and grabs him, teleporting him outside of the base, but not too far away from it. He then explains that Dark Moon isn't getting enough despair from the humans, so he intends to remedy this by destroying one of their greatest heroes. He then projects an image of himself and Megaman into the sky, just like the one he used to show off his defeat of those redshirt robot masters earlier, and begins a fight with Megaman.

Duo attempts to jump in to help, but gets teleported away by Saturn's Black Hole, and straight into an ambush set up by the remaining Stardroids, who completely destroy him.

Megaman puts up a valiant effort, but the fight isn't actually going that well for him. The fight doesn't last for long though, because suddenly, a laser hits Megaman in the forehead and he collapses. It wasn't Terra who did this though. It was Wily, who is wearing a mech suit that looks like the alien disguise game Wily used briefly at the end of MM2. Wily then puts on a show about how Megaman has been a thorn in his side for far too long and he wasn't going to let some upstart destroy him before he could.

Terra is disappointed at how anti-climatic this battle turned out, but leaves anyway, satisfied.

Event: Cutman's Sacrifice

Everyone is understandably angry at what Wily did, but Dr. Light interrupts to say that Megaman is actually still alive. Wily comments on the fact that Light saw through his ruse and admits that all he actually did was knock Megaman off line, since it was obvious that Terra intended to make an example of him and wouldn't have stopped until he was permanently destroyed. Wily made sure not to actually hit anything vital in Rock's computer brain, so he should be easily repairable.

But then when they actually start working on repairing him, they discover that Terra saw through the ruse too. There is a second, much smaller, laser hole close to the one Wily made, that seems to have actually hit something vital in Rock's computer brain. No one noticed it due to how small it was and because they were distracted by Wily.

While they're trying to figure out what to do to repair the damage, Cutman steps up, asking to have a word with Dr. Light.

Shademan arrives, alive and unhurt and Cossack is finally made to explain the truth behind Duo and those crystals that the Cossack Numbers tried to use earlier.

Once the exposition is over Bass appears and snatches 4 of the crystals, saying that since he didn't get a chance to beat that white monstrosity from earlier, he'll have to settle for kicking those Stardroid losers cans instead (Gyroman: Who repaired that idiot?!). Cossack tries to stop him, pointing out how dangerous the crystals are, but Bass doesn't listen and equips Treble Booster, Jetting off out of the base.

Pharaohman says that the crystals don't only give a power boost to the user, but give them the ability to know exactly where the Stardroids are, so he's probably headed straight for them.

Then Megaman appears, fully repaired and operational. Everyone is happy to see him at first, but then the Light Numbers wonder out loud where Cutman is. Megaman is forced to reveal that Cutman asked the Doctors to use his computer brain to replace Megaman's, since they're close enough in model that their parts are interchangeable, but since there wouldn't be enough room for both Cut's and Rock's memory and personality files...

Finale: Towards a Brighter Tomorrow

There's no time to mull over Cutman's loss however, as there's only a few hours left until Dark Moon is done "incubating" and Bass's signal indicates that the Stardroids are all in space above earth. Megaman is given the other three crystals that Bass didn't take and he, Shadowman, Ringman and a group of Unity Group Pilots make their way up to Space to fight them. Interestingly, Protoman is already there along with Bass.

Highlights of the canon battle include Shadowman managing to take out Mars by throwing him, Mercury and himself into earth's gravity well so that Mars burns up in the atmosphere during re-entry (Shadowman survives since Mars' body protected him from being burned up too and Quickman riding his Mecha Dragon caught him). Mercury, who survived re-entry as well, is then taken out by Quickman. Bass meanwhile, kills Saturn by throwing his crystals into Saturn's Black Hole and blasting them with a charged shot as they enter the ring. These don't necessarily have to be followed to the letter for the sake of other characters on the mission getting some action.

Once they've all been defeated, Terra being the last one to go, Terra reveals before he dies that the rage and despair of the Stardroids at their defeat will also feed Dark Moon and that the ultimate destroyer is about to be born. Sure enough, once Terra is gone, Dark Moon hatches to reveal Sunstar.

Boss:
Sunstar

As the battle begins, Sunstar asks Megaman and Unity Group why they're fighting. Humanity might be united against a common foe now, but they're all going to start fighting amongst themselves again when the dust settles. The heroes are invited to give their answers to this. Meanwhile the people of earth watching the fight from below cheer them on. Eventually Sunstar is defeated and the world is saved.

It's also revealed that Cutman is actually fine, with his memory and personality files having been transferred over to the unused sectors of Roll's own computer brain (Roll had more space to spare since she's just a domestic helper robot still). This is revealed when Cutman accidently takes Roll's body over briefly to also cheer them on.
