Notes about the NPCs for the Mods of SRWU

There's a few things about the differences between how the robot masters are handled in the games as opposed to how they are in Arigaverse that need to be clarified for the sake of npcing them.

The Second Numbers

General: The Second Numbers are the biggest badasses of Wily's forces (yes, even Bubbleman, though he's still the least badass of the lot), and the most serious and professional. They're also considered Wily's strongest group of Robot Masters over all. They don't get seen much outside of their intro chapter and the Stardriods arc because Wily instructed them to rescue Robot Masters in bad situations after he was put in jail in the aftermath of R Destruction Order. Of course this didn't stop them from showing up when Wily really needed them during the White Giant's attack on Wily City.

Quickman: In contrast to how he's portrayed pretty much anywhere else, Quickman is the most serious of the whole bunch and stoic to the extreme. His facial expression never really changes much no matter what situation he's in. Even when his arm shatters along with his Quick Boomerang during his fight with the White Giant he doesn't even flench. He also doesn't talk much. The most lines he ever gets were during R Destruction Order when he addresses Megaman upon officially meeting him for the first time. As a result, he doesn't really have much of a personality other than being a badass. He's definitely the most powerful of the Wily Numbers other than Bass (as mentioned in the event list, he was the only one who managed to make a dent in the White Giant's armor when no one else had managed that much up to that point).

Flashman: Flashman's a bit axe crazy and the most eager to start a fight of the group. He also has a distrubingly long tongue for some reason.

Heatman: Also axe crazy and has jet propulsion. He can power himself up with Crashman's Crash Bombs (which I'm sure references how Heatman in the games was healed if you used Crash Bombs against him).

Metalman: As the oldest, he seems to act as the leader of the group.

Third Numbers

General: They're fairly competent, but more quirky and childish than the Seconds. The quirkiness was more emphasized in Metal Heart than Asteroid Blues though (There's still a moment where Topman and Magnetman high fived each other after catching Megaman off guard in the latter though). They also came off as less competent in Metal Heart. (This is especially funny since Metal Heart was the official first introduction the audience gets to them in the manga).

Shadowman: Probably the Wily Number who gets the most screen time overall, as you might have noticed from the event list. Shadowman tries very hard to be a stoic badass ninja, but he's kinda fail at it. Mainly because he's sometimes torn between his loyalty to Wily and doing what he feels is the right thing according to his sense of honor. But also because he sucks at the stoic part and can get flustered really easily. His character establishing moment during Metal Heart was him realizing that the Yellow Devil's weakness was his eye and announcing this out loud, only to have Rock ruin his attempt to sound cool by saying he knew that already and is surprised that Shadow didn't. Then after reacting in surprise to this, he immediately keeps going like he didn't hear Rock.

His main function is to serve as Wily's bodyguard, but he also sometimes acts as a spy for him. He usually keeps his right eye closed, because Wily has a spy camera installed there and he only opens it if he wants Wily to see what he sees or if he gets flustered enough. Aside from the standard Shadow Blade weapon, he also wields a katana and has the ability to travel through and hide in other people's shadows (though to use this power to travel, he has to know where the person possessing the shadow he's traveling to is). It's implied he's an alien robot that Wily rebuilt into a robot master, but this only ever gets hinted at and it's never outright confirmed.

The Cossack Numbers

Ringman: He's a police investigator who specializes in robot related crime. he takes his job very seriously, but he's still willing to help the Light Numbers even if it puts his career in danger.

The Fifth Numbers

General: The Hourly-Pay Squad: Part Timers! Definitely the quirkiest and most childish of the lot. As mentioned in the event list, they mostly make themselves useful by doing part time work for an amusement park in Rock's home city to make money for Wily. They told the park owner they were paying off their creator's debts though. It seems they really enjoy working there and have gotten really into the whole Japanese Employee Spirit culture. They probably also watch too many toku shows.

Starman: The only thing to really note about him is that he's a bit flamboyant and showy and really likes outer space. He often carries a rose with him, which he often has in his mouth unless he's talking. Apparently it's a fake rose that acts as a communication device. He's a general staff member at the park.

The Seventh Numbers

General:As a whole, they don't get as much spotlight as the others and what attention they do get is mainly Battle and Chase, which was cut for this game, still there's a couple of notable ones. It's kind of implied that the Sevenths are primarily made up of Robot Masters that were saved by the Second Numbers and willingly joined up with Wily.

Shademan: Shademan is a showy and gentlemanly fellow who is also the best planner and organizer of the Wily Numbers. Canonically he is the one who comes up with the plan to get the heroes into space to fight the Stardroids during the final arc. He is over all a pretty sharp guy and also a bit snarky.

Freezeman Technically, this section isn't entirely necessary because his one scene was in Battle and Chase, but I still feel like it's worth noting for the record. He doesn't actually get any spoken lines, but it's revealed when he meets Iceman that he want's Ice-senpai to notice him he's a bit of a fanboy of his (He helps Iceman protect Roll from an explosion and then proceeds to hand him a note asking to be penpals and containing his email address before running off). I'm only mentioning this because it was pretty hilarious.

Standalones

Protoman/Blues: Basically, Protoman is a jerk. He's very manipulative and doesn't know how to people very well (at least as far as interacting with them normally). Ultimately he has Rock's best interests at heart, but he's not above doing things that end up putting him in danger. The Stardroids arc kind of gives off the impression that not even he fully understands why he does the things he does though. In the manga he and Shadowman actually have quite a bit of interaction together. Also, Tango is his cat, and seems to be the one primarily taking care of him. At least about as well as a robot cat can take care of anyone on their own. Dr. Wily fixed his faulty reactor core with the one power crystal that the scouting team in Asteroid Blues managed to bring back with them.

Bass: Bass is an even bigger Blood Knight than he normally is. He's more than willing to harm civilians if he thinks it'll get Rock to fight him more seriously, whether that means forcing Rock to fight harder to protect said civilians from him or getting them "out of the way" so he won't be distracted by them. He's also obsessed with fighting strong opponents in general rather than simply Rock.

Duo: Well, once he shakes off the Black and White Insanity thing he had going as the White Giant, Duo isn't too different from Megaman 8. He was rebuilt by Dr. Cossack in this instead of Dr. Light (which Ariga probably did as a reference to how he was originally going to be a Cossackbot). Of course since he gets killed off shortly after making his debut in his more well known form, there's not too much to say about him.

Auto: Auto has a bit of a mad scientist streak going in Gigamix. He has a really bad habit of not asking or telling people before doing things too. He gave Rush a race car form and modified him with the Super Adapter mode during Battle and Chase, and also cannibalized Item-2 for parts. During the Stardriods arc, after Light Labs is destroyed, he reveals he'd been secretly building an underground lab directly under it (and used left over change he kept from going out on errands for Roll to afford that).
